Pet Policy

Due to foliage damage and plant mortality caused by pets walking through the formal gardens at Harkness, we have now posted the prohibition of walking pets through the formal gardens. Pets are still allowed year round on a leash elsewhere throughout the park. They are allowed on the beach from September 1 through April 1.
Thank you for protecting our large investment in beautiful gardens at Harkness Memorial State Park for everyone to enjoy.

The Friends of Harkness is dedicated to the restoration and preservation of the Harkness Estate and to the provisions of Mrs. Harkness’ will, in which she bequeathed the property to the State of Connecticut for the well-being of its citizens.
